Film collection, 1920,1962.

45 3/4" or 1" beta videotapes of old films copied from a variey of sources. Videos record a variety of mostly northern Michigan towns, events, agricultural and winter festivals, skiing, ski resorts, various Civilian Conservation Camps (CCC), and logging camps. Town festivals are documented in: Traverse City, Otsego, Ishpeming, Grayling, Petoskey, Boyne City, Roscommon, Wellston, Waters, Houghton Lake, Cadillac, Lansing, Iron Mountain, Saint Joseph, and Detroit. Areas documented include: Isle Royale, the AuSable River, Mackinac Island, Tacquamenon Falls, Porcupine Mountain State Park in Ontonagon; and Michigan Technolgical University. Ski resorts documented include: Hickory Hills and Holiday Hills in Traverse City; Pine Mountain Skiing in Iron Mountain; Boyne Mountain and Ski Village in Boyne City; Ski Village in Waters, and skiing in Ishpeming and Mount Holly. Other ski resorts include: Kandahar in Detroit; Silver Valley in Tawas; Skyline in Grayling; and Caberfae Ski Area in Cadillac. CCC camps are documented in Isle Royale, the Upper Peninsula, and Arkansas. Japanese-Americans and Mexican migrant workers picking fruit are documented, especially in Traverse City. Also documented are Herbert H. Dow, and a number of skiiers, including Everett Kircher, the Flying Bietila Brothers, and Othmar Schnieder.
